About Angela Castañeda Ph.D.
Angela Castañeda is a cultural anthropologist who recieved her Ph.D. from Indiana University. She is Associate Professor of Anthropology and Associate Chair of the Sociology and Anthropology Department at DePauw University. Her teaching and research publications explore issues of identity surrounding religion, ritual, food, birth and expressive culture.
In addition to fieldwork in Mexico and Brazil, Angela is a practicing birth and postpartum doula in Indiana. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Bloomington Area Birth Services, a nonprofit that works to improve the health and lives of mothers and babies by improving birth outcomes and breastfee
