About Maureen P. Corry, MPH.
Maureen Corry has thirty years experience as a researcher, educator, advocate and policy analyst focusing on maternal and child health promotion and maternity care quality improvement. She joined Childbirth Connection (formerly Maternity Center Association) as executive director in 1995, and has positioned the organization as a powerful and effective advocate for evidence-based maternity care and maternity care quality improvement.
In 2006, she guided the organization through a rebranding process to bring its name, logo and website in line with its contemporary focus. She spearheaded recent efforts to: launch Childbirth Connection’s Maternity Quality Matters Initiative, which focuses on public policy as a core strategy for maternity care quality improvement, and host a 90th anniversary national symposium, Transforming Maternity Care: A High Value Proposition, to engage multiple stakeholders in the development of a blueprint for action to improve maternity care quality and value. Maureen received her MPH from Yale School of Medicine in Health Services Administration.
She currently serves as Vice Chair of the National Quality Forum’s (NQF) Consumer Council and as Co-Chair of the Steering Committee for the NQF’s National Voluntary Consensus Standards for Perinatal Care Project. She also serves on the National Commission on Quality Assurance Consumer Advisory Council and the Patient Consumer Advisory Committee of the Center for Medical Technology Policy. Maureen reviews and comments on systematic reviews for the Consumer Panel of the Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth Group and a member of the steering committee of Consumers United for Evidence-Based Healthcare.
